Oscarville Oral Storytelling

Video Project
January 2023

The video above is a three-to-five-minute oral storytelling project I completed during Digital Storytelling. This project shows me sharing a narrative poem I wrote based on Oscarville, the town located underneath Lake Lanier in North Georgia. This poem aims to share or retell the historical story of Oscarville. I was inspired by sleep podcasts on Spotify and true crime YouTube creators like Stephanie Soo as I strived to create an ominous yet calming atmosphere that directly addressed viewers with my storytelling. I also uploaded my storytelling to YouTube using the closed captions feature to make it accessible.

A Silent Voice Video Project

Video Project
December 2021

This video is an eight-minute presentation I completed during Topics in African-American Literature. This course focused on literature by African American female authors, who shared narratives based on trauma within the African American community. While in this class, I learned how to recognize types of trauma and trauma symptoms and how they appear in media. Ultimately, I applied this information to analyze trauma in Naoko Yamada and Yoshitoki Oima’s 2016 animated film A Silent Voice, connecting it to Geoffrey Sax’s 2010 film Frankie & Alice. For this project, I used Microsoft PowerPoint and images found on Tenor to create visualizations for my presentation. I then used Kaltura to record a voiceover of my presentation and uploaded it to YouTube.
